Fata Morgana

Ghosts, originally uploaded by janika0.

I reach out.
My hand stretches to meet the warmth of yours.
I reach and my fingers are met with wisps of air,
intertwined, but you're not there.

An illusion.

That was all you wanted to be.

Fata Morgana.

Excellent work. OK you've convinced me and Mike. You have a talent that should be explored to greater length and an avenue to publicize to other writers.
We would love to formally invite you into the Society of Midnight Wanderers. If you could can you send me an email to let me know regardless? I do hope you'll accept.

On the topic of your poem have your read Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Fata Morgana"?

"O sweet illusions of song
That tempt me everywhere,
In the lonely fields, and the throng
Of the crowded thoroughfare!

I approach and ye vanish away,
I grasp you, and ye are gone;
But ever by night and by day,
The melody soundeth on.

As the weary traveller sees
In desert or prairie vast,
Blue lakes, overhung with trees
That a pleasant shadow cast;

Fair towns with turrets high,
And shining roofs of gold,
That vanish as he draws nigh,
Like mists together rolled --

So I wander and wander along,
And forever before me gleams
The shining city of song,
In the beautiful land of dreams.

But when I would enter the gate
Of that golden atmosphere,
It is gone, and I wonder and wait
For the vision to reappear.

You do it justice. Well done.
Take care.

JD -
Can I just say, I read your comment when it came in and was completly thrown off-balance by it, I was sooo thinking, 'Oh My God...he wants me to write for SMW!!" I don't think you quite realize how that had affected me. I was at work, damn it!! I had to tell myself to stop and breathe! And to stop thinking about it 'cause I wouldn't been able to concentrate and focus on my next client!! I didn't even dare respond until I got home from work, that threw me for such a loop.
I am floored and quite honored you would even consider me as a member there!
*Reaches up & kisses JD on the cheek*
Thank you! I will email you later about this.

I also want to say thank you for your very kind comment.
I was aware the phrase "Fata Morgana" has been used in many different circumstances, including a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, though I am unfamiliar with it, having never read it before. Thank you so much for including it here, it's really very beautiful; and his second 'stanza' very much sounds like what I was trying to convey about how I am feeling and what I've been recently experiencing.

While writing this I often wondered how many people would really know what 'Fata Morgana' means. I'm not surprised that you, being the wonderful poet that you are, would know.

I'll email you later on.

T - Yeah, I know you can.

The ball was in his court.
And he's known it all along. If he wanted to talk with me, he would have done so already.

It's sad, but his silence is actually very deafening.

Summit of Mount Jo 9/24/10 A few friends were worried about me. They were worried about me hiking Mount Jo by myself, so I took this video to show how many people were around that day if I needed assistance. I even chatted with several and had a few people share a glass of wine with me at the summit. :) Mount Jo. 9/24/10 After the crowd left This is what the summit looked like... with no people on it. In the previous video I took, I showed all the people who had made this same hike to her summit.
